Growth, freedom and intensity came from a struggle to create. To jog my creative process, I grabbed my oil pastels and paper and started having some fun. As it turns out my representational, loose and impressionistic style is a perfect fit for this buttery medium. I intentionally layer my colours and leave hidden pops of colour along the way provide the intensity that I seek in this body work. Technically, I use a dark ground, Sennelier oil pastel and seal. My preference is to work on paper taped so that I take the lines over the edge. That in itself provides the freedom I enjoy.
As with my acrylic work, my muse for these pieces, has been the foliage found in its many random setting across the country interpreted with a confident stroke of the crayon.
